My personal story begins in the field of clinical psychology. I became a qualified clinical psychologist in 2009 after completing extensive training and practical placements. I then worked in both medium and high-secure environments, where I explored various treatments for disorders such as personality disorders, borderline disorders, complex trauma, psychosis, and learning disabilities. After nearly five years of direct patient interaction, I decided to further my education in cognitive neuroscience.
During my studies, I specialised in EEG, or electroencephalography. This specialisation helped me understand brain function and the connections between the brain and behavior. I also learnt about the concept of energy and how our thoughts and feelings, which are governed by this energy, continuously develop. The more I learnt about the human brain and psychology, the more I recognised and appreciated the connections within us and with the external world. I believe it's crucial to acknowledge these connections because they have significant healing potential.
This exploration inspired me to pursue a PhD in psychology, focussing on EEG and investigating sleep and related states such as quiet wakefulness, meditation, mindfulness, and the default brain network. My research examines how these states support cognitive processes and overall well-being.
We live in a fast-paced world filled with distractions like binge-watching and mobile phones, which often prevent us from living in the moment. By integrating my findings, I aim to help individuals optimise their body functions through simple training and exercises. This support is essential for thriving in today's world.
Life is a short journey meant to be enjoyed, and I believe we are born to relish it.
